Richard McMaster BSc MSc

Richard McMaster is a Research Associate at the University of Birmingham, within the Human Interaction Technologies group. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and an MSc in Occupational Psychology, both from the University of Sheffield. 

Richard previously worked in Software Testing and Business Analysis roles, gaining commercial experience of Human Factors issues on a variety of hardware and software projects. 

He has worked closely with several organisations during field studies, including West Midlands Police, the Fire Services College and Rolls-Royce Aerospace. 

Current research interests include distributed cognition, situation awareness and cognitive task analysis. Richard is also reading for a PhD (part-time), investigating distributed cognition phenomena in emergency services command and control.
