Mick started his career at British Aerospace Research Centre (now BAE SYSTEMS) where he was involved in a broad range of human factors research based projects both in the military and commercial sectors. He has worked on projects as diverse as measuring pilot workload in an ADV Tornado to assessing driver's performance with an installed collision avoidance device in a Rover car. He also took part in a number of military and civilian large European collaborative research programmes. For the last seven years Michael has worked on the Merlin Mk1 Helicopter Programme where his role has been as an Advisory Human Factors Engineer. In this capacity he has managed all aspects of human factors issues on what is a large complex weapon system. Michael has very much a 'hands-on' attitude to his work and during his career has flown in a Hawk fighter and a Merlin Mk1 and lived on board a Royal Navy T42 Destroyer in order to appreciate some of the human capability issues associated with those environments. Michael is regarded as having excellent interpersonal skills, which allows him to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
