After a brief spell researching the activation of thermal batteries at DERA, he joined BAE Systems, Underwater Systems Division, as a Trials Analyst. From there he moved into the Systems and Simulation department, working on an off-line simulator for the Sting Ray lightweight torpedo and using it to develop tactics for defeating countermeasures. He later moved to the Synthetic Environments group at Thales Training and Simulation, becoming involved in a synthetic environment for the Watchkeeper UAV programme and a weapon movement model for the CVF future aircraft carrier. In 2004 he joined Aerosystems International as a Software Engineer and has since been supporting various HFI DTC research activities, as well as helping to maintain the shared working environment.
